RC Superintendent Tidbits

By:  Mark Otten

Rock County Public Schools Board of Education will be moving forward with the windows and doors project with the intention of getting the work done in the summer of 2022.  Board president, Tim Shaw, and I met with a representative from Facility Advocates to discuss the process and ensure we are following the federal guidelines that are attached due to the use of ESSER III money.  We are now awaiting the bid specifications to be sent to us so we can approve those prior to advertising for bids.  Our hopes are to approve a general contractor and bids during the October board meeting but we may have to push that into November, depending on how quickly we get the bid specs from Facility Advocates.

The staff was treated to candy bars last week in the teacher lounge as a thank you for the great start to the school year.  When this happens, you never know what the reaction will be.  I thought I would share one without disclosing the staff member.  I received a text with this message, “I had never had Hershey’s with Almonds.  It has changed my life, good and bad.  It is Amazing!  But now I can’t stop eating it when there is one in there.”  Reactions like this are priceless and help us to build the relationships amongst the staff that drives us to do better for kids.  I cannot provide a Hershey with Almonds for everyone who reads this, but thank you all for the support to start this school year.  Our students deserve a staff and community who work together to provide them the best educational experiences we can provide.  Thank you all!!!
